Seth Rich, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer who was murdered on July 10, 2016 in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of Washington D.C., gave Natalia Veselnitskaya stolen DNC emails a month prior to his death, according to Jack Burkman of The Profiling Project. Burkman said that “a very scared source” – a DNC staffer – contacted him on July 20, 2017 to let him know that Rich had met the Russian lawyer last year.
“We don’t know what the Russian lawyer eventually took to Trump Jr. but what I have is a very credible source saying emails were given to her,” Burkman explained.
Emails passed onto WikiLeaks revealed that the Democratic Party had rigged its own primary. This led Wasserman Schultz to resign as national party chairwoman on the eve of the Democratic National Convention. Although Julian Assange would not confirm whether Rich had anything to do with these emails, WikiLeaks offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of his murderer.
Burkman has been investigating the death of the voter expansion data director for the best part of a year now. Although authorities continue to claim that Rich was shot during a robbery that went wrong, Burkman and many others believe that he was the victim of a professional hit, maybe by the Clinton hit squad.
“Seth Rich was not going to chase anyone down the street, so there’d be no reason to shoot him twice in the back. If it was a botched robbery and he was shot in the back – that’s almost impossible,” Burkman said. Incidentally, Rich’s wallet, phone, and watch were still in his possession when the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrived at the scene of the shooting.
Burkman, who said that he would not quit until he got to the truth, has filed a lawsuit against the MPD to try to obtain additional evidence such as body-camera footage taken at the crime scene, the police ballistics report, Rich’s death certificate as well as his postmortem report.
Last month The Profiling Project, which is staffed by forensic psychology students at the George Washington University, issued a 45-page report titled The Profiling Project: Seth Rich Homicide – Initial Findings in which it concludes that Rich was killed by “a hired killer or serial murderer.”
“[…] the fact that the killer has gotten away with it for this period of time and that it appears to be a very sanitized crime scene certainly shows some level of proficiency in killing,” the group’s chief investigator Kevin Doherty said.
Twelve months on, no one has been arrested in connection with Rich’s homicide but three weeks ago Burkman announced that the group would be staging a re-enactment of the DNC staffer’s murder on Tuesday, August 1.
“Re-enactments help catch killers. We must therefore rise to the occasion and give Washington, D.C. and this nation one of the finest crime re-enactments ever done,” he said.
